Dear Parents:

School begins on August 8, 2011 (see the school calendar). Note the Parent / Teacher Fellowship and Open House on August 7 at 2:30 P.M. Each morning I will open the gym door at 7 A.M. School starts at 8:25 A.M. and ends at 3:10 P.M. Please try to have your child in the gym by 8:15 as this will facilitate our starting the classes at 8:25. The doors are locked at 8:25. After 8:25, students must report to the office for a tardy slip. The daycare will stay open until 5 P.M.

A used book sale / swap meet is planned on July 28 from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. However, I suggest that during the summer you contact parents who may have used books and buy books early. Stop by the office to get names of parents who may have books. If you are going to sell books at the book sale, bring your books when you come. Please have your name and the price attached to each book. If you buy a used book, make sure it is the correct edition. Write checks to the parent owning the book. Enclosed is your child’s book list for next year.

Those students who plan to play sports (grades 7-12) please get sports physicals before school starts. Forms can be picked up in the office. Please avoid taking your child out of school for physicals.

Volleyball practice starts June 27 at 8:45 A.M. I gave the girls a schedule.

K3, K4, or K5 students who are enrolled for a half-day should be picked up by 12:30. Students may not be left in daycare without prior coordination with me. We have limited space and are (at times) unable to take short notice students.

I prefer all students’ cell phones stay home. However, for those students who bring a phone the following applies: Students in 7th through 12th grades will turn their cell phones in to the office when they first walk in the building. Grade school students will turn the cell phones in to their teachers each morning.

For the Open House on August 7, please bring half of the items (tissue, flatware, and paper products) that are on the supply list. Please label them with your child’s name. Then at Christmas time, bring the other half.

Our dress code is partly about teaching modesty. I would request that parents assist us with this training. Ladies, whenever you are on school premises or at school activities, please cover yourself with loose fitting clothes to the top of the knee and within three fingers of the collar bone.

We are expanding our before school breakfast options and revising our lunch program. Breakfast is available in the morning from 7:45 to 8:10 in the new cafeteria in the back of the gym. Lunches must be purchased before school in the new cafeteria by 8:15. We will only order white milk if we have at least ten students buying milk five days a week. Milk must be ordered and paid for a week in advance. We will send new menus and milk order forms home the first week of school. You may order lunches by the week.
